Privacy policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
MellowGut helps people with IBS find their food triggers. We know that information about your gut is personal. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the MellowGut app.
Who we are
MellowGut is run by Eduard Vlase Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16832727), with its registered office at 16 Hambleton Grove, Emerson Valley, Milton Keynes, MK4 2JS. Eduard Vlase Limited is the data controller. Contact us about anything in this policy at support@eduard-vlase.com.
The waitlist on this website
- What we collect: your email address and when you joined.
- Why: to tell you when MellowGut launches and about the founding offer. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by joining. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Who helps us: Resend sends our emails and keeps the waitlist. Vercel hosts this website and keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security.
Cookies on this website
We use Google Analytics cookies only if you choose “Accept”. They count visits and show which pages are useful, so we can improve the site. Google processes this information for us and may do so outside the UK, under appropriate safeguards. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so it’s never used for advertising. Our legal basis is your consent. If you choose “Reject”, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We remember your choice in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie. The app doesn’t use Google Analytics.
The MellowGut app
The app handles health information, which UK GDPR treats as special category data. We only use it with your explicit consent, which the app asks for before any health question. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile, Your data.
- What we keep: your onboarding answers (such as your goals, safety check and starting symptom score), the poo types you log, your evening check-ins (symptom scores), the meals you log with their FODMAP estimates, and later the food tests you add.
- Photos: sent securely to Anthropic, our AI provider, to read the Bristol type, then deleted. We keep only the result, like “Type 4”. Photos are never stored on our servers or in your camera roll, and Anthropic doesn’t use them to train its AI models. Meal photos and descriptions are handled the same way. Photo and meal reading need an account, so they can’t be misused.
- On your phone: everything is stored on your phone first, and the app works without an account.
- With an account: your health data is backed up to Google Firebase in London, UK, and only you can access it. Your sign-in email is held by Firebase Authentication, which Google may process outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. Sign-in codes are stored only as a one-way hash and deleted within a day.
- Who helps us: Google Firebase (accounts and backup, in London) and Anthropic (reading photos and estimating meals).
- Research: only if you opt in, and only anonymised. It’s off by default.
- Never: we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until you unsubscribe, or until we have finished launch emails.
- App: until you delete your account. Deleting removes your account and everything in it from our servers.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. In the app, Profile, Your data lets you download everything (JSON or CSV) and delete your account. For anything else, email support@eduard-vlase.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
